Award of Doctoral Fellowships

In order to promote scholarship in classical Tamil, the Central Institute of Classical Tamil proposes to award Doctoral Fellowships to eligible candidates. The details are as follows:

The Doctoral Fellowship includes Rs. 12,000/- per month for 2 years with a contingency grant of Rs.12,000/- per annum.
The candidate should have registered for Ph.D. in any recognized University or Institute. The evidence of Ph.D. registration should be enclosed.
Postgraduate degree holders with a first or high second class in Language, Linguistics, or allied disciplines such as Anthropology, Sociology, Education, Archaeology, Musicology, Performing Arts, Folklore, Epigraphy, Philosophy, etc., are eligible to apply. Candidates belonging to SC/ST category will be given relaxation of 5 marks.
Preference will be given to Ph.D. registrants who are working on topics related to Tamil Grammatical and Literary Traditions, Comparative Literature, Comparative Dravidian, Language Typology and Translation with special emphasis on the classical period.
The candidate should not have exceeded 30 years. Age relaxation will be allowed for OBC candidates (3 years) and SC/ST candidates (5 years).

Award of Postdoctoral Fellowships

In order to promote scholarship in classical Tamil, the Central Institute of Classical Tamil proposes to award 5 Postdoctoral Fellowships to eligible candidates. The details are as follows:

The Postdoctoral Fellowship includes an award of Rs.18,000/- per month for 2 years with a contingency grant of Rs.30,000/- per annum.
Ph.D. Degree holders who are interested to work in the areas of Language, Linguistics, or allied disciplines such as anthropology, Sociology, Education, Archaeology, Musicology, Performing Arts, Folklore, Epigraphy, Philosophy, etc., are eligible to apply.
Preference will be given to those who are working on topics related to Tamil Grammatical and Literary Traditions, Comparative Literature, Comparative Dravidian, Language Typology and Translation with special emphasis on the classical period.
The candidate should not have exceeded 40 years. Age relaxation will be allowed for OBC candidates (3 years) and SC/ST candidates (5 years).
The selected candidates should undertake their research work in the CICT campus only. Scholars who are in regular employment need not apply.
